Uses of Sildenafil

Sildenafil is used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension and to improve penile functions.

Therapeutic Category

Sildenafil: Phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE 5) inhibitors

How Sildenafil works

Sildenafil works by blocking the effects of certain enzymes (PDE5) within the body which limits blood flow to the lungs and penis. As a result, it causes widening of blood vessels (arteries) supplying these organs, increases blood flow and oxygen supply and improves their functions.

Common side effects of Sildenafil

  • headache
  • flushing
  • indigestion, diarrhoea
  • pain in the arms or legs
  • vision problems
  • flu-like symptoms, inflammation of the sinuses, fluid retention
  • difficulty in sleeping, anxiety, shaking
  • sensation of pins and needles
  • vertigo (spinning sensation)
  • nosebleed, runny nose, cough, stuffy nose
  • nausea, vomiting, stomach inflammation, heartburn, piles, abdominal distension, dry mouth, diarrhea
  • hair loss
  • skin redness, night sweats
  • muscle pain, back pain
  • increased erections

When to consult your doctor

Consult your doctor if you experience:

  • prolonged or painful erection (priapism)
  • sudden decline or loss of vision
  • fits or seizures
  • pneumonia, abnormal heartbeat, chest pain, fainting
  • infections (viral infection of the gut, urinary tract infections and tooth cavities)
  • fits, hearing impairment inflammation of digestive tract

Health Tips for Sildenafil

  • Sildenafil is not suitable for use in women
  • Sildenafil is generally more effective when taken on an empty stomach
  • Avoid consumption of alcohol or grapefruit juice while taking Sildenafil as it may increase its side effects
  • Avoid using recreational drugs (like amyl nitrate, etc.) while taking sildenafil as it may cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure
  • Sildenafil should not be taken more than once in a 24-hour period
  • Before taking Sildenafil, inform your doctor if you have any liver, kidney, or heart problems
Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking any prescription or non-prescription medicine, dietary supplements or herbal treatment

Sildenafil works by blocking the effects of a group of medications (PDE5) in the body which include PDE-5 inhibitors. PDE-5 inhibitors have been shown to improve exercise ability, reduce blood pressure, and increase blood flow to the penis. This occurs at multiple levels in the body. For example, in the body where the cells associated with the penis are damaged, these medications reduced aldosterone and thus increased blood flow to the penis, while increasing the length of the erection.

  • dizziness
  • on sides
  • vomiting
  • sudden decrease or loss ofancouver
  • allergic rash, itching, hives
As a few as a few as possible, but not every side effect. Some side effects may not be serious and would be expected once you have had the medication. Your doctor will review your health condition and may do so if necessary. You may have an alternative Sildenafil dosage if you do not yet have pulmonary hypertension or you are unable to take Sildenafil because of depression, heart problems, high blood pressure, blood cell problems, seizure, vaginal bleeding, rheumatic disorders or severe allergic reactions. Sildenafil is not recommended for use by children.

If you have been taking Viagra (sildenafil) for erectile dysfunction for more than a few months, it can be hard to tell the difference between what you’d expect to hear from a doctor. But there are several ways you can treat erectile dysfunction, from changing the dose, to changing the way you take Viagra.

Viagra (sildenafil) is often the first pill to go off the market. It was approved by the Food and Drug Administration in 1998, and since then it has been approved for people over 65 who have erectile dysfunction (ED).

Viagra is available as 50mg tablets, which are identical in appearance but contain the same active ingredient, sildenafil citrate. The 50mg dose is the standard dose for people with ED, but in some cases, it can be more convenient for some men.

Viagra can be taken with or without food. If you eat a low-fat diet and take sildenafil more than twice a week, it may slow down your blood pressure and may even make it harder to get an erection. But if you do take Viagra and you have ED, it can still be effective.

Sildenafil (sildenafil citrate) is an older, newer drug that has been available for more than two decades. It was developed by Bayer and has been approved by the FDA since 1997.

A 20-year study published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine showed that men who took Viagra for ED had a significantly better chance of getting a better erection than men who didn’t take the drug.

In 2013, a separate, smaller study examined sildenafil and found that men who took Viagra for ED had a significantly greater chance of getting an erection than men who didn’t take the drug.

For example, the study found that men who took Viagra for ED had a significantly better chance of getting an erection than men who didn’t take the drug.

If you take Viagra daily for more than a few months, it can be hard to tell how well it works. But your doctor will likely start you on a low dose and increase it to a higher dose.

If you take Viagra regularly for erectile dysfunction, you may still experience the side effects listed above, including headaches, muscle pain, nausea, and dizziness. The side effects may be more pronounced in men who are also taking a nitrate drug for angina.

If you take Viagra regularly for ED, you may experience a decrease in the level of blood in your penis, which may make it harder for you to get an erection. Viagra can make that possible, too.

Sildenafil (sildenafil citrate) works by relaxing the blood vessels in your penis. This allows blood to flow into your penis, causing an erection. But it can also cause a decrease in blood flow to your penis, so it can take longer to work if you don’t have ED.

If you have ED and are taking Viagra for ED, it may be time to explore other options. These include lifestyle changes, such as eating a healthy diet, and switching to a new drug to treat ED. These drugs may not be effective for everyone.

If you are taking any of the following, talk to your doctor about what to do.

Take a low dose of Viagra or take a higher dose if you have ED

  • If you take more than the maximum recommended dose for erectile dysfunction, talk to your doctor about increasing the dose to the maximum recommended dose.
  • If you take more than the maximum recommended dose, talk to your doctor about changing the dose to the maximum recommended dose.
  • If you take Viagra regularly, talk to your doctor about increasing the dose to the maximum recommended dose.
  • If you have ED and take any of the following, talk to your doctor about what to do.

Take a higher dose if you have ED

  • If you are taking any of the following, talk to your doctor about taking a higher dose of Viagra.
  • If you have ED and take any of the following, talk to your doctor about lowering the dose to the maximum recommended dose of Viagra.
  • If you have ED, talk to your doctor about switching to a new drug for ED.
  • If you are taking any of the following, talk to your doctor about taking a low dose of Viagra.
